Catalogue Entry
Leo R. Schidlof (unpublished opinion, 1952) attributes a number of miniatures signed Vincent without initials to Antoine Paul Vincent, who exhibited at the Salon from addresses in Paris between 1800 and 1812.
This miniature dates from about 1790. The brown card backing is inscribed Madame Ingouf / par Vincent, and the sitter may be a relative of the engraver François Robert Ingouf (1747–1812) or of his brother, also an engraver, Pierre Charles Ingouf (born 1746, died before 1800). P. A. Wille, a contemporary genre painter and engraver, reported that Pierre Charles Ingouf l’ainé had married a baker's daughter who was very pretty.
